Water Filtration Systems for Reno City Water

Northern Nevada’s City Water Team Since 1993

Reno’s tap water meets every EPA and NDEP legal standard and still carries contaminants that exceed the Environmental Working Group’s health guidelines. That gap between “legally compliant” and “meets your family’s health standards” is exactly what a water filtration system built for city water is designed to address. At Pure Water Systems of Nevada, we’ve been diagnosing and treating Northern Nevada city water since 1993. Our team is local, family-owned, licensed, and insured, with more than 15,000 completed installations and a 4.9-star rating across over 1,500 Google reviews backing every recommendation we make.

We start every project with a free in-home water test performed by a licensed professional, so you know exactly what’s in your supply before we suggest a system. No guesswork, no one-size-fits-all pitches.

Ready to find out what’s in your Reno city water? Call (775) 261-8565 to schedule your free water test with no obligation.

City Water Softener Solutions for Northern Nevada

Northern Nevada city water is hard, and the effects show up throughout your home. Our city water softener systems are designed specifically for high-desert water conditions, and the difference is noticeable.

Treated city water can mean:

  • Showers and fixtures stay cleaner with less visible scale
  • Laundry can come out brighter
  • Soap can lather more easily
  • Hair and skin can feel softer
  • Cleaning can take less effort with less mineral buildup
  • Addressing hard water may help support tankless water heater warranty requirements (hard water is a documented cause of voided on-demand heater warranties)

We have two showroom locations, in Reno and Dayton, where you can see and compare systems in person before making any decision.

Salt-Free Conditioners & Chlorine Systems

We carry salt-free conditioner and chlorine systems designed specifically for Northern Nevada tap water. These systems reduce contaminants while keeping beneficial minerals in the water, produce no slippery feel, require no added chemicals, and help control scale and corrosion. That makes them a natural fit for households that want chlorine and sediment reduction without the salt regeneration cycle of a traditional softener. Every system we carry uses American-made products backed by a lifetime warranty.

Contaminants in Reno City Water Exceed EWG Health Guidelines

The EWG’s health guidelines aren’t legal thresholds. They reflect what independent researchers believe lower long-term exposure should look like, and they’re stricter than EPA legal limits, which in many cases haven’t been comprehensively updated in decades. Reno’s 2024 monitoring data found arsenic averaging 6.8 PPB with a maximum reading of 13.9 PPB, above the EWG health guideline of 0.004 PPB. PFAS compounds were also detected at low levels in 2024 monitoring. The full list of contaminants EWG flags above its health guidelines includes:

  • Arsenic
  • Chloroform
  • Total Trihalomethanes
  • Haloacetic Acids HAA5 & HAA9
  • Hexavalent Chromium
  • Uranium
  • Nitrate & Nitrite
  • Bromochloroacetic Acid
  • Bromodichloromethane
  • Dibromoacetic Acid
  • Dibromochloromethane
  • Dichloroacetic Acid
  • Tetrachloroethylene
  • Trichloroacetic Acid
