The Oasis RO coolers will be installed in each building at the station and will lower the arsenic level to below the on-again/off-again new maximum contaminant level of 10 parts per billion. They will also replace the existing bottled water coolers, freeing up space that was previously used to store extra 5-gallon bottles.

The Naval Air Station at Fallon is the Navy’s premiere tactical air warfare training facility.

Reno, NV. November 1, 2011. Truckee Meadows Water Systems, a leading water company in Reno / Tahoe, is proud to announce major revisions to their website. The company is a family owned water business, offering water filtration and purification products from their downtown Reno facility. Founded in 1988 by Reno Resident Mike Guidara, the company recognized that bottled water would someday become obsolete and that water purification equipment would replace it. The company has four divisions, all represented on the revamped website – residential whole house water treatment, drinking water dispensers, commercial / industrial water, and an office coffee service.

“We recognize that more and more our customers are on the Web,” explained owner Mike Guidara. “So we have put a lot of effort into improving our website so that we can be found on searches such as ‘Water Filtration Company Reno’ and we can expand our reach beyond Reno / Sparks into Carson City and other cities in Northern Nevada as well as close-by cities in California such as Truckee and South Lake Tahoe.”

More information -

* http://www.renowaterfilters.com/

FREE WATER CONSULT

The company is an expert in the water filtration business, and the free consults are one way to make sure that each and every customer gets the residential or commercial water system that is right for his needs.

FREE WATER TESTING IN RENO / TAHOE

Well water in the Reno / Tahoe area has been known to be subject to arsenic and other contamination. So the company offers an easy-to-use form on the Website to inquire about free water testing. That way, a business or individual can find out if their water contains any excessive contaminants such as arsenic. If so, Truckee Meadows Water Systems can consult with the most cost effective solution for the business or individual.
Conventional water softeners are generally considered the most effective and practical way to reduce water hardness and prevent scale formation in pipes and plumbing fixtures. Water softeners, however, require salt to regenerate, and they must be backwashed periodically to rinse and refresh the ion exchange resin. Brine water discharge and the need to conserve water have challenged this conventional technology, and new methods to provide scale-free water are being considered.

ScaleNet FAQ

Scale Net does not require chemicals such as sodium, potassium, acids or phosphates to produce a scale-free effect in water distributions systems and especially water heating equipment. Scale Net is a far simpler “physical water treatment” and does not extract or sequester the water hardness constituents of calcium and magnesium, but rather consistently influences the crystal structures of these minerals in such a manner that no scale is formed on interior surfaces. Scale Net neither adds chemicals nor removes chemicals from the water.

To be more specific, rather than attempting to prevent the natural tendency of hard water to form scale (by removing or adding chemicals), Scale Net treatment actually promotes and redirects scale formation in such a manner that the scale remains suspended in the water rather than forming on surfaces within the water system.

How Does Scale Net Work?

In cold water, calcium ions (Ca2+), magnesium ions (Mg+2) and bicarbonate ions (HCO3-) are surrounded by “layers” of electrochemically-attracted water molecules, which “insulate” against the natural tendency of the oppositely-charged ions to come together and form crystals. Atomic level templates on the surface of the Scale Net media act as catalysts and reduce the ability of water molecules to prevent calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate ions from coming together to form crystals of calcium and magnesium scale. This process that we refer to as Template Assisted Crystallization (TAC) results in the creation of microscopic crystals of scale (seed crystals), which rapidly form in the treated water, not on the contact surfaces of the water system, and are carried downstream in colloidal suspension through the water system.

In untreated water, the scale forms on the inside walls of pipe, exterior of fixtures and all heating surfaces.

In Scale Net treated water, the seed crystals themselves provide a far greater surface area for new scale formation. Therefore, new scale preferentially deposits on this continuously replenished stream of suspended crystals rather than on the water contact surfaces – especially those surfaces that are at elevated temperatures.

Since scale formation is not static (it is constantly forming and dissolving),

the existence of continuously generated seed crystals not only eliminates further deposition of scale on water contact surfaces, but in fact will cause deposited scale to gradually dissolve back into the water and deposit on passing seed crystals in the water (from contact surfaces to solution to seed crystals).

  Scale Net Vs. Water Softeners

The calcium and magnesium removed by traditional salt-using softeners are essential nutrients, while the sodium added is suspected to aggravate certain cardiovascular health problems and contribute to weight gain.

Scale Net systems do not add anything or remove anything from the water, retaining the important naturally occurring minerals, especially calcium and magnesium.

Salt-using softeners must be regularly recharged by adding more salt and back-flushing with fresh water, which is costly, inconvenient, corrosive to pipes and water heaters, harmful to the environment and wasteful of a precious resource.

It is becoming increasingly common for municipalities to ban the use of automatic water softeners, as the need to recycle water becomes a necessity.

Scale Net requires very little maintenance, no residual costs and does not harm the environment, pipes or water heaters.

Salt-using softeners cannot always be easily installed and require more than twice the space of a Scale Net system. Softeners also require a drain connection and electrical power.

Scale Net systems can be installed where space is very limited.

Residential & Commercial Applications Benefits

Eliminates the need for salt softeners

No need for salt or corrosive chemicals

Removes existing scale deposits

Longer life expectancy for appliances

Reduced energy expenses

Increased efficiency of hot water tanks

Environmentally friendly

No electrical power required

Virtually maintenance free

Easy to install and requires no drain connection or electrical power

Industrial Applications Benefits

Eliminates scale prevention chemicals Other chemical costs are reduced too

No more acid baths or pressure washing Reduced maintenance and downtime

Increased design/operating efficiencies Removes existing scale deposits

Longer life expectancy for capital equipment Can be installed on all piping materials

Easy to install and easy maintenance Economical and permanent solution to scale

A day does not go by that someone doesn’t call and ask if we offer a “softener that doesn’t use salt” - The TRUTH is that the public is demanding something that hasn’t been invented yet .
The radio and internet are full of people trying to sell you something that I don’t believe you will be happy with.

When these anti- scale systems first came out, I was excited and installed 2 in South Reno. Wouldn’t you know it, 6 months later , I had to pull them and install water softeners because my customers weren’t happy with the results . The water always reverts back to it’s natural hard state as soon as it comes into contact with oxygen. Basically, your pipes will look good, but they won’t help your hair, skin, clothes, shower doors or faucets !!!

Water softeners remove calcium and magnesium- important minerals – YES, but you’ll never get those supplements from drinking water. Those supplements come from food.

If it worked , we’d offer it, but they won’t help with hard water stains on shower doors or fixtures. (I have to admit, the ads sure sound good)

If You’re looking for something to keep your industrial boiler from scaliog up, these will help a little. If you’re looking for a soft water that will improve the quality of your life, don’t buy one
