The most efficient household RO system in the market today is “water on water” design where the rejected water that normally would go to drain is diverted to the other side of the “bladder” in the product water storage tank. This is then used along with water pressure from the feed water source to force the water out of the tank to the faucet. These systems claim a 50% recovery rate but actually perform at 33% due to the use of feed water to deliver water from the storage tank to the faucet.
